How to Recycle Your Old DVDs and VCDs

Technology has now developed ways for the moviegoer to have a duplicate of motion pictures through file transferring in computers and other memory devices that do not take up too much space and money, as compared to DVDs and VCDs. So what can you do with your library of flicks other than throwing them away or storing them in the attic or basement? Well, you can use them for home projects that can serve as decorative pieces for your dwelling.

A sample idea for those who are into horticulture is to use your discs in your garden to reflect sunlight. One method is to hang them from fruit trees so that the captured light can scare birds away and prevent them from eating the harvest. The second option is to place them in an ideal spot where it can allow the sun to bounce onto plants that are located in shady areas. For the sporty types, another project can be an air-hockey table that is made of several discs glued on to the table to serve as the playing area, and another side layer on top can be the borders. Then another set of discs can be your putts and your “sticks”. As for the holiday fanatics, you can create shiny wreaths by gluing discs together into a circle or other shapes, or using them as hanging decorations on Christmas trees. One more idea for party goers to cut the discs into small squares and plaster them on to a big Styrofoam ball to make your own disco ball! There are many more things that your imagination and creativity can make with old DVDs and VCDs.
